SIDI WEEK 2015, as in previous year the activities of Student Research and Development Team have been held to gather some ideas of research for the development of islands in Indonesia, especially Maratua island and Poteran island by students from various majors in ITS. After passed the desk evaluation by the team of SIDI Sunday (15/2). Participants who passed the desk evaluation they did presentation in front of lectures. This presentation was useful to explain the idea that they want to do. Presentation activity has been divided into two (2) groups: Maratua island and Poteran island. The research group from Poteran island dominated by the students from Biology department, they presented variety of ideas and contributions of the natural resources on the Poteran island which are Moringa and seaweed. As described by Nur Shabrina, student from Biology Departement she has a theme of Sailing Laboratory research : Seaweed Cultivation Monitoring, she has explained her motivation to follow SR-DT programs because she wants to promote the Poteran island. "The root of the problem is the location of seaweed cultivation is wrong, so I had the idea to build a sailing laboratory research" she said when she was at the Dekanat FTK after explained the presentation.
The student research group for Maratua island is more diverse. Their ideas are also very remarkable for the development of the Maratua island, such as the idea from Gwyn Walesa, he has idea of "Energy Audit as an Opportunity to Reduce Energy Expanse and Carbon Footprint for Green Homestay Building in Maratua Island". Gwyn explained the importance of energy management because he considered that the cost of energy is increasing every time, and will be very profitable if it is done with an energy management. Each of them presented one by one and they must be assured that they will bring the idea that can be applied on the island which they will develop. Hopefully the idea that they have can make the first step in improving the lives of the Community and the result is increasing in social welfare.
